This morning, I had to whip over to the Dollar Store to pick up some packing tape for Hubs. On the way out I spotted a sign for a garage sale, so of course I had to go check it out.
That's where I found this!!
I thought it was pretty funky looking and I loved the patina.
Last weekend I visited a sale way, way out in the boonies...so far in the boonies that I actually started to wonder if it was some sort of a lure for women (I have a very brilliant imagination). It wasn't.
But what was there was a GORGEOUS ancient trunk...for ten dollars. Honestly I thought my eyes were fooling me. And then, right under my nose someone picked it up and bought it!! Okay, maybe not right under, but almost. I could have cried. I even briefly considered tackling her and suggesting we fight over it.
But my rather reserved Swedish heritage got in the way and I watched her walk away with it. *tears*
Well, that made me all the more determined today that I wasn't.letting.this.one.get.away.
But now my question is...what the heck is it?
Even the lady I bought it from doesn't have a clue. Apparently it belonged to her father
when he was in the Navy.
Does anyone have any ideas?
It says "Tecumseh" on the top. I googled it and apparently that's near Windsor, Ontario.
If any of you have any clues as to what it might be...please do let me know! I'm pretty curious.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
My first thought was using it as a planter outside, but the more I look at it, the more I think it
would make a pretty interesting little side table next to a very sleek leather sofa!
I go kinda ga-ga over the look of really old things paired next to ultra modern!!!
